The Australian Voices Project

The 'Australian Voices' Project is all about bringing Australian Great War Poetry to life. There will be over 100 poems read by people from all over Australia, as well as some New Zealanders and English. The voices will be of the poem's voice, which was written by Australians and New Zealanders during the Great War. There were also men and women from England who wrote poetry which is included in the AGWP Canon, and these readers will be from England. You will recognise the nationalities in the poem description beneath the film.

Before you watch the film, you can click on the bold red title of the poem, which will take you to the blog where the poem's text is located. This is merely an added feature for you to make your experience better.

The project is designed to give the poets a real audio presence, with the aid of film, music and sound affects. When the project is completed, the areas from where the readers come will be marked on a map of Australia, New Zealand and Great Britain. The readers' names and regional areas will appear in the poem's credits. It will be a lengthy process, but AGWP will publish the films on this website and Facebook as they are created.

Also check the map at the bottom, which shows the locations of the poems being read. It will be added to as more videos are created. Its an interactive map, so you can make it big or small to see all the locations, or just one location. You can also click on the map marker icon to see what poem was read in that location, which is only the suburb, not the street. You can also see on this map the location of the AGWP library and research centre, which is in Gdansk, Poland.
